To add a printer to your computer or remote desktop, please follow these steps:
- Go to the copier/printer location of the device you want and note the CSU Tag# for Step 4.
- Open a File Explorer window from either of these locations...

- The Start Menu - the left image is our desktops with Windows 10, the right image is Remote Windows Desktops
- The Windows Toolbar
- In the address bar type the following: \\print.clarkssummitu.edu
From the grid of printers shown, double click the number which corresponds to your desired printer (see Step 1).
Info title Hint From the menu ribbon, change the View to Details or hover your cursor over the printers and a printer location description will appear.
The printer will be installed and its printing queue will appear.
- Optional Step: Set the printer as default
- From the now open printer queue window click Printer
- Click Set As Default Printer
- From the now open printer queue window click Printer

Connect to the printer server before you begin.
Info title WARNING Any time you want to print you will need to connect to the print server using this method.
- Single click your wallpaper or open Finder
- Press CMD+K
- In the Server Address Window type smb://print.clarkssummitu.edu/printshare
- Press the + button : this will add it to the list in the window below
- Press the Connect button this will connect you to the print server
- Login using your email address and password

- Click the [Advanced] icon that was added to the toolbar.
- Select Windows printer via spoolss from the
- drop down menu.
- Wait until the Search is complete
- In the URL field, type the printer url
- This will be a combination of the copiers CSU Tag# (Step 1) and the Server address (Step 2). Do not include the folder name (e.g. PrintShare)
- For example smb://print.clarkssummitu.edu/CSU00012)
- In the Name field,
- Type the name you would like to use to distinguish this printer from others on your Mac
- For example "Business Office Laser Jet CSU00700"
- This is for you and will not impact the setup
- In the Location Field
- Add a location description to help find the printer
- For example "JH316" or "Jackson Hall Room 412"
- This is for you and will not impact the setup
- Choose a Driver from the Use drop down menu
- If the printer is not list from Step one then select "Select Software..."
- Type the Model number of the copier in the Filter block (see step 1)
- If the copier is not listed you will need to download drives from the manufacturer
- Click Cancel on the Printer Software window
- Go to https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/printers
- Find drivers for the copier you are looking to install.
- Download and install them
- Repeat Step 4.v
- If more then on option is present contact the Helpdesk (a list of all CSU printers in kept in our office and soon on the IT Share drive)
- If the copier is not listed you will need to download drives from the manufacturer
- With the copier driver selected press OK
- Click Add
- If the printer is not list from Step one then select "Select Software..."
- Wait until the Search is complete

- From Step one add the add-ons you noticed.
- A list of add-ons will be coming soon

- Press the Open Printer Queue button
- From the Mac menu bar at the top of the screen press Printer
- Select Print Test Page
- The print jpb should appear in the Printer Queue window, disappear, and then the copier should print a test page
- If successful, you are done. Otherwise try again or submit a helpdesk email ticket.
