To save a copy of your email to your computer view the guide below. It contains 2 methods to export your email. A third options is detailed below, but it is more advanced.

Guide Summary

  • Option 1 and 3 will only do mail.

  • Option 1 – Will import all emails to a different email account like Gmail using their import tools

  • Option 2 - Export your account to a PST file. This is only readable in the Outlook desktop app, but is the only option for a single export of everything in Outlook. Access to MS Office Apps will go away on October 15th. See article below under "Tasks, calendar, and contacts" for a PST export guide.

  • Option 3 – Use a free email client like Thunderbird. This may take more work on your part. But here is that info...

Thunderbird Email Client - Option 3 details

  1. Download and install Thunderbird – Thunderbird — Free Your Inbox. — Thunderbird

  3. CSU Guide to import from http://Office365.com  to Thunderbird.

    1. Start the auto config, but press the "Configure manually" link.

    2. When asked for config settings use POP3. It will remove the email and store it only on your computer. IMAP4 leaves it on the server, but places a copy on your computer.

    4. IMAP example below. For POP3 change the incoming server protocol to POP3 and the port to 995.

    5. Be sure to use the proper Encryption Method from the chart above (SSL/TLS or STARTTLS)

    6. On the first sync you should get Microsoft login and MFA check windows. This should be the CSU blue background window you normally get.

    7. Email will begin to populate into your email client. Once completed you should move what you want from the Microsoft folders to a local folder in Thunderbird. If you do not when access is terminated these folders may go away.
