Needed tools

  1. Network RJ45 Crimper (two choices)

    1. HelpDesk Crimper in Tool bag

      Klein Tools Network Wire Strip and Crimper

    2. IT Office Crimper in Cupboard

      EZ-RJ45 Network Strip and Crimper

  2. Wire Cutter preferred, but scissors can work

  3. Cat 5/5e or 6/6E Connector -

    1. Wire can come in a variety of standards (e.g. 5, 6, 7, etc…) and wire types (stranded or solid).

    2. Be sure the connector matches the wire.

      RJ-45 Connectors

  4. Cat 5, 6, or 7 RJ-45 network wire

  5. RJ45 Tester

    1. Either Tester will work

    2. HelpDesk Tester and Case

  1. CSU uses the T-568B wiring plug method 

How to crimp RJ45 to Cat5e or Cat6 cable

  2. Fix two wires. This may require cutting off a broken end or two

  3. Use the RJ45 tester to confirm the wiring is good.
